The NHS will spend £100,000 to teach staff how to talk to pregnant transgender men – including controversial terms like breast feeding.
Health bosses solicit help to scale up program to promote inclusion.

Maternity staff receive pronoun alerts and language preference alerts when it comes to the patient’s body.
A pilot from University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust said: “We understand the additional challenges that gender identity can pose in pregnancy, childbirth and infant feeding.
“We will provide full and respectful care to pregnant people and their families.
“The role of our midwives is to support a pregnant person’s journey through every stage of pregnancy, delivery and the first few days with their baby.”
NHS England, with the support of Health Secretary Steve Barclay, has issued a six-figure call for tenders to expand the scheme nationwide.
There is very little data on the number of trans men who gave birth in the UK.
According to Australian data, 22 trans men gave birth in 2019.
