Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo sent off after just nine seconds

Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo was sent off after just nine seconds against Angers in Ligue 1 on Sunday.

Angers opened the game at the Allianz Riviera and immediately pushed forward with the ball before Todibo brought down striker Abdallah Sima in what the referee saw as a scoring opportunity and a red card offence.

It was only the fourth time since 2010 that a player in one of Europe’s top five leagues was sent off after less than a minute of a game.

Angers used their numerical advantage and took the lead in the 43rd minute through midfielder Nabil Bentaleb. Angers were then sent off when winger Sofiane Boufal was sent off in the 62nd minute, but the visitors held on to the 1-0 win.

Todibo, 22, joined Nice on loan from Barcelona in February 2021 before making a permanent move later this summer.
