Nicole Kidman’s Iconic AMC Ad Becomes a Cult

Heartbreak feels really good in a place like AMC. And that’s because Nicole Kidman told us it was possible. If you’ve been to an AMC theater now, you’ve seen the advert that won over all movie lovers. It shows Kidman going to the movies in the rain and talking about how much she loves seeing characters on the big screen, and it’s become something of a tradition at some points to salute or applaud the ad, when she arrives. (At least we do in New York City). And now Saturday night live took the time to poke fun at how much we all love it.

Kidman (played by Chloe Feinman) walks through the rain quite normally and she says all the things Kidman did in the original commercial (with a few little remarks about herself) and then as she continues through the commercial she is joined by other people in the Cinema (which is new since it was only Kidman in the one that plays in AMC theaters). Then, as she speaks, her power grows and she begins to soar above those who greet her and the films.

Which probably happens to Kidman every time someone clap or stand up and greet the ad in real life.

It’s funny because it’s become sort of a thing in AMC theaters everywhere and during host Miles Teller wasn’t in that sketch, it’s worth mentioning anyway because who doesn’t know the AMC advert by heart at this point? Well, probably people who don’t go to the movies weekly, but you get the point. It’s become something of a phenomenon and has gotten worse over the summer, so it’s no surprise Saturday night live comment it now.

What will the next ad with Kidman bring us? Will we see Kidman at the theater with other people all enjoying films together and praising Australian actress Kidman and her work? Maybe. I just hope the new ad features a clip from Moulin Rouge! and maybe has Ewan McGregor We salute the movies as we all should. Hopefully without Kidman getting more powerful and having a lightning based power. That maybe we don’t have to be real. Nicole Kidman’s Iconic AMC Ad Becomes a Cult
