“No player from their team scores!”

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has expressed his desire to help the Red Devils keep a clean sheet against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final. The French player also gave praise to Los Blancos superstar Karim Benzema.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will lock horns with the La Liga champions in the Champions League final on May 28. The two teams met on the same occasion in Kyiv in 2018, but will face off in Paris around the same time. this time.

Real Madrid has set its sights on winning the 14th European Championship in its history. Meanwhile, Liverpool have lifted the trophy six times and will be determined to win more of it.

Before the match, Konate expressed his admiration for Benzema, whom he hailed as ‘extraordinary’. However, the Liverpool defender is wary of the threat posed by the entire Real Madrid team and is keen to help his side keep them on May 28. He told the French TV show Telefoot:

“With the season that Karim [Benzema] there are, that’s special, but in their team, it’s not just him. My goal is to have no player on their team score [in the Champions League final]! “

The two teams locked the whistle in the Champions League final four years ago. Los Blancos emerged on that occasion, beating Klopp’s side 3-1 in Kyiv.

Liverpool will be keen to settle their score against the Spanish giants when they meet again in Paris. They have won two trophies this season, the EFL Cup and the FA Cup.

On the other hand, Real Madrid won the La Liga championship. They are 12 points at the top of the table, getting 84 points from 36 matches so far.

Benzema has been a key player for Los Blancos in all competitions this term. He has scored 44 goals and provided 15 assists in 44 appearances for the club so far.

Konate will start for Liverpool before Real Madrid?

Konate joined the Red Devils from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig for £36m last summer. He has become a regular for the club, having made 26 appearances across all competitions to date.

The 22-year-old has appeared in all of Liverpool’s last 4 matches in the Champions League. Therefore, Klopp can fill his name in the starting line-up to face Real Madrid in the final of the tournament later this month.

It is also worth noting that Konate also played the full 120 minutes of the team’s win over Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday. He also featured in the final EFL Cup win over the Blues in February.
