“No wonder it’s conference league next year”

Jesse Lingard’s brother reacted to the winger’s absence during Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Brentford. It was the last home game of the season for the Reds.

Lingard’s nine-year stay at Old Trafford appears to be coming to an end as his contract expires this summer. He was picked on the bench against Brentford.

But the 29-year-old is an unused substitute. Names like Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata and Edinson Cavani were all brought to Old Trafford.

Lingard’s brother reacted angrily on Instagram to his decision not to play as a striker, posting (via UtdPlug):

“20 years of blood, sweat and tears, 4 domestic titles, 3 final goals. Not even a goodbye.”

He continued:

“No surprise when it’s (UEFA) Conference League next year. Hit the players to celebrate when the club is sold to the super league. 92nd, Busby Babes. You are run by who don’t even know the offside trap.”

“No class and the fans need to realize… Been there since I was 9 and didn’t even get to play!!!”

A Bitter End to Jesse Lingard’s Manchester United Career

Jesse Lingard’s goal against Crystal Palace in the 2015 FA Cup final put him on the list of United images.

This is a young striker who has made it all the way through the Manchester United academy and into the senior team. He spent loan spells at Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion early in his career winning first-team opportunities.

Lingard’s career at Manchester United was one of the final turning points that led to his regretful departure from the club he loved.

During his time at Old Trafford, Lingard made 232 appearances for the club, scoring 35 goals and contributing 21 assists.

However, the best period of the English star’s time in the Premier League did not come to Manchester United.

In 2020, the striker has the opportunity to join West Ham United on loan. Lingard capitalized on his chances, scoring nine goals in 16 appearances for The Hammers while contributing five assists.

There were high expectations that the striker would leave United for West Ham in the transfer window last summer. With his contract set to expire in a few months and after a great campaign in London, that seems right for all parties.

But the Reds thwarted West Ham’s pursuit of the striker and the 29-year-old remained at the club as a result.

But this season has spoken to his situation at the club in recent seasons.

Lingard found game time rare and following the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as caretaker coach was rarely seen.

Now he is set to leave Old Trafford after nine years and it is a sad end to what should have been a beautiful story.
