Noel Gallagher’s ex Meg Mathews crashed into a parked car while drunk driving twice after drinking alcohol to calm her nerves
NOEL Gallagher’s ex-wife Meg Mathews has been banned from the road after driving into a parked car while being double drunk.
Mathews, 57, had “a few drinks” at a book launch in Newquay to calm her nerves before giving a speech.

But when the friend asked to see her new Jeep Wrangler, the former music PR got behind the wheel and crashed into a parked car.
The owner of the vehicle called the police and Mathews was found to have 77mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath – the legal limit is 35mg.
She pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle with an alcohol content above the legal limit in Cornwall Magistrates’ Court today.
Mathews was banned from driving for 20 months, fined £440 and ordered to pay a £176 surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.
The court was told she had “no actual salary” but was able to pay any penalties and costs within 14 days.
If Mathews completes a drunk driving rehabilitation course, her driving ban will be reduced by 20 weeks.
Steven Cox, defending the defense, said Mathews was quite nervous about speaking publicly for the first time in “years”.
She downed a few drinks that were offered to her, but these weren’t pub-grade drinks and weren’t dosed properly, and they contained a lot more alcohol than she originally thought.
The attorney said Mathews had planned to stay at her friend’s house nearby, but they first looked at her new car.
She then made the “stupid decision” to drive the Jeep despite exceeding the limit.
Mr Cox added: “She said she reached the first corner and rammed the car there resulting in minor damage and scratches, there was no serious damage to the bodywork.”
“It stopped immediately and the owner of the vehicle came out who had called the police. They were exchanging data when the police arrived.”
“They arrived, she crossed the border and was arrested and taken into custody.
“She said to me, ‘I take full responsibility and accountability for what I have done and I would like to conclude by apologizing again that you had to hear this case because of my poor judgment. I’ll never do that again’.”
Mathews, who rose to fame during the Britpop era of the ’90s, married Noel, 56, in Las Vegas in 1997.
The couple, who have daughter Anaïs (23), separated four years later.
