However, many viewers have been most amazed by how good she looks, even years after she rose to fame in the ’90s.

One tweeted: “Gwen Stefani on the one show is just weird. How hasn’t she aged?! No way is she 53.”

Another wrote: “I love Gwen Stefani!! How is she, 53? Looks 30. Would love to duet with Madonna.”

One Show hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine stunned the star with a video message from British singer Pauline Black, one of her childhood idols.

After playing the message from the singer who founded ska band The Selecter, Gwen said: “Zoom in guys these are real tears. Wow, I’m shaking. I can not believe that. That’s incredible.”

Jermaine, 40, told her: “I can understand why.”

But the US singer replied: “You don’t understand anything, okay?”

Alex joked, while former soccer player Jermaine hid behind her in mock fear, “Tell him Gwen.”

“She was my idol when I was 13 and she just talked to me, it’s crazy. You don’t understand that either, because the music was very underground, we discovered it.”

“Nobody knew what it was. They sang about London, so I became a big fan.”

Gwen rose to fame as the singer and lead songwriter for the band No Doubt before embarking on a solo career in 2004.

She has won three Grammys and a Brit Award, and was ranked number 13 on VH1’s 2012 list of the 100 Greatest Women in Music.
