OpenAI Launches a Premium Version of ChatGPT for $20 a Month

OpenAI has announced the launch of a paid version of ChatGPT that will allow you to keep using ChatGPT for $20 a month I think.
In a blog post Published on Wednesday, the research organization announced the release of “ChatGPT Plus,” a pilot subscription plan for its spooky little toy. What do you get for your monthly subscription fee? Well, to be honest, not much – at least not yet.
OpenAI says the premium version of its chatbot will include “general access to ChatGPT, even during peak hours” (this is said to be a benefit because the chatbot has crash known due to popularity), faster response times (also good because the bot can lag), and “prioritized access to new features and improvements”. This “priority access” may sound good, but OpenAI doesn’t specify what any of these upcoming features or enhancements will actually be.
In lieu of specifics, OpenAI gives readers a wealth of hopeful rhetoric about the future that sounds like it was written by ChatGPT:
“We launched ChatGPT as a research preview so we can learn more about the system’s strengths and weaknesses and collect user feedback to help us improve its limitations. Since then, millions of people have given us feedback, we’ve made several major updates, and we’ve seen users find value in a number of professional use cases… We plan to refine and expand this offering based on your feedback needs. ”
G/O Media may receive a commission
Oh, too the original ChatGPT will continue to be free, so you don’t need to subscribe if you don’t want to.
Honestly, why would anyone pay money for this if all OpenAI offers is probability the first dibs on future features and updates is kind of a hanging question. It’s also not entirely clear to whom this subscription service is marketed. Are occasional users (like those who wrote this poem) are said to be so excited to keep using the chatbot that they jump at the chance to spend two cash’s worth of Netflix subscriptions on a slightly better version?
Of course, OpenAI has made it clear that its expansionist ambitions are far from over. The organization says it’s “actively exploring options for lower-cost plans, business plans, and data bundles for more availability,” meaning there’s likely to be more monetization tiers in the future that make a little more sense than this.
