OpTic H3CZ demands move away from online CoD for Modern Warfare CDL season

The culmination of the Vanguard Call of Duty League season is fast approaching, but the legend of the scene H3CZ has called for major changes to next season’s format, and in particular an end to online matches in the Modern Warfare 2 season.

The third Call of Duty League season is fast drawing to a close, with only August’s CoD champions remaining on the pro calendars.

After that, it’ll move on to Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2, a title that’s expected to be the only Call of Duty game for at least two years.

As such, fans, players and owners have shared their thoughts on what needs to change in the CDL’s fourth season since it replaced the CWL. One thing above all applies to the scene legend H3CZ Has go for the MW2 season.

H3CZ Slams CDL: “How Can You Make It Worse?”

On Episode 83 of the OpTic podcast, H3CZ slammed the league for continuing to force teams to play Call of Duty online despite it being a multi-million dollar competition.

Online CoD has long established itself as less consistent than its LAN competition, where ping, lag, and other variables don’t have nearly the same effect.

“But I mean, how can you make it worse in this league?” he asked. “We play Call of Duty online to this day. We practice too much… We’re going into the fourth season of this thing. Next year, if there’s a single thought or mention or ‘we should do anything internet-related,’ I’m going to put my hand up and I’m going to say no right away.”

He continued: “I have no patience [for it]. I just don’t want to. But it doesn’t work, viewership doesn’t work… Do you know what else Scump is? Who the hell cares how much it costs? We’re the ones paying for it, not the league… So if we as an ownership group want this to be off-line, we have a tough say… How come we’ve come back from MLG?

Scump and former CoD pro FormaL echoed H3CZ’s comments, though the OpTic, Texas president accepted that others in the aforementioned ownership group disagreed with his position.

Whether the CDL will take H3CZ’s advice is another question, but many fans will no doubt agree with the legend of Call of Duty esports.
