Diamondbacks is actually a game over .500. The Orioles are playing seven games under, but before being swept in Detroit, they had won eight of 13. Keeping this season’s loss totals in double digits doesn’t sound like an achievement, but it does. these two teams it would be a step back to respect.

Minnesota manager Rocco Baldelli, whose team leads AL Central, admitted a different feeling when visiting Camden Yards this year.

“It’s a real challenge coming here right now,” Baldelli recently said of Orioles. “Their pitchers – it’s not necessarily the refurbished pitchers, we’re familiar with some of these – but they pitch really well right now.”

Orioles finished last in the majors with a solid margin last year with an ERA of 5.84. The team then moved the wall in the left area back to Camden Yards and increased its height. Now, Baltimore ranks 17th in the majors with a 3.79 ERA.

Whether it’s due to the new size, improved performance – or perhaps the sport is just more favorable for this year’s pitchers – it’s a noticeable improvement. ESPN’s park factors stats rank Baltimore as the current No. 24 scoring environment, down from last year’s 7th place.

“The football field is definitely part of this as well,” Baldelli said. “It will be a chore if you have to run really fast. You have to put several hits together, it feels like. ”

Of course, the day after Baldelli said that, the Twins gave up the five hosts alone in the loss at Baltimore.

The Diamondbacks have also improved significantly on the mound, rising from 29th in baseball last year to 10th on the ERA team. Merrill Kelly, Zac Gallen, and Madison Bumgarner all have ERAs below 2.00.
