Orlando Weeks announces UK ‘Hop Up’ tour and teases new music

Orlando Weeks has shared the dates of its top UK tour – check out the full itinerary and ticket details below.

These dates will support his second solo album, ‘Hop Up’, which was released in January, and follows the former Macabees frontman’s 2020 debut, ‘A Quickening’. Weeks also toured the record earlier this year, including a “charming” performance at London’s Barbican Center in March, NME called “charming” in a five star review.

The new show will begin November 17 and include a stop at London’s Paradise venue on November 23. Tickets will go on sale here tomorrow (May 19) at 10am.

“I’ll be back on tour this November,” Weeks said in a post. “Top spots in a lot of cities that I haven’t been on the last tour.” He went on to share that “the new album has been written quite a bit” and that “it will be finished by November”.

Weeks also promises additional dates that will feature new songs as well as tracks from ‘Hop Up’ and ‘A Quickening’, adding: “If I hadn’t seen you on a carnival stage this summer, then I will see you in November”

“It’s quick, but usually it’s not,” Weeks previously said NME about his experience writing ‘Hop Up’. “I don’t feel stuck at any point or about the lyrics or any part of the song. Also, I didn’t do it in my apartment where the little ones and partners were trying to sleep in another room. I went to a friend’s empty workspace and made a lot of noise, drinking beer, screaming and playing the trumpet in a lousy way.”

He added: “With this record, I’m just trying to create something positive without having to explore the hard stuff. It’s just to enjoy and cultivate fun things. ”
