‘Out of control’ dog bit police officer’s testicles in Glasgow city centre attack

A MAN whose dog bit a police officer’s testicles has been fined £270 today.
Ridwan Islam’s three year old Caucasian Shepherd chewed in the groin area of PC Andy Brand on June 11, 2022.
Glasgow sheriff court overheard the 33-year-old speaking to a man downtown about the dog.
PC Brand then reached out to Islam to speak to him.
In an agreed written report given to a sheriff, the Crown said: “Without prompting or warning, the dog, which Islam was then in control of and held on a leash, thrashed about.”
“The dog pounced on PC Brand, biting his groin and causing two lacerations.”

Islam was admonished and accused by officials before replying, “I’m sorry.”
The dog was confiscated and placed in kennels while PC Brand was taken to hospital.
He was given a tetanus shot and antibiotics.
Islam pleaded guilty to owning a dog that was dangerously out of control.
His lawyer, Haroun Malik, asked the court not to kill the dog, which would be placed with Islam’s brother.
He added: “Mr Islam regrets it and has instructed me to call the officer and apologize.”
“He realizes this is a serious matter as the dog was not under his control and bit a police officer on the testicles.”
“This is an isolated case and the dog has shown no aggression towards the public.”
“He is willing to take responsibility and accept whatever punishment the court decides.”
Sheriff Bernard Ablett ordered the dog seen by a veterinarian for her groin and joint problems.
The dog is also muzzled and kept on a 1.80m leash.
Sheriff Ablett told Islam, “The dog will not be killed, you understand?”
Islam replied: “Thank God, thank you.”
