Overwatch 2 hero changes revealed so far, from Mercy to Tracer

Overwatch 2 has tweaked the designs of many fan-favorite heroes, so be sure to check out all the changes before launching the game.

surveillance 2 aims to shake up the meta with its 5v5 team comps and entertain players with its new PvE content. One of the most exciting additions, however, is the new hero design changes. The heroes in Overwatch 2 not only have a fresh new look, they also have more detail than ever before.

The game’s release might be a while yet, but that hasn’t stopped Blizzard from teasing the new designs for Mercy, Tracer, and the rest of the ragtag crew. The eclectic cast of Overwatch characters remains among the most popular in gaming, so it only makes sense that the developers would want to make some adjustments.

While these character changes might be rather minor, they help differentiate both titles from each other. Without further ado, here are all of Overwatch 2’s character designs.

Merciful

Mercy Overwatch

First on the list is Mercy, the supportive Guardian Angel who acts as one of the game’s most useful healers. Mercy ditched the high ponytail and opted for a shorter hairstyle that features a smaller halo. Her wings and combat medic outfit also feature new gold highlights that help her armor really stand out.

Lucio

Lucio Overwatch

Lucio is the next support to get some love in Overwatch 2. His dreadlocks have been switched to a much darker brown while green paint has been used to further complement his armor. The black arm and leg guards also really pop with the fluorescent green color, giving Lucio even more style than ever.

Reinhardt

Renhardt Overwatch

Overwatch 2’s Reinhardt no longer hides his face behind his helmet – instead, the steadfast tank has chosen to show his grizzled face to the world. This brave hero not only sports his lion crest on his arm, it now appears in the center of his breastplate.

As if that wasn’t enough, Reinhardt has also beefed up his shoulder pads and rounded out his massive armor with gold detailing. After all, every knight needs cool looking armor that they can rely on.

Winston

Winston Overwatch

Everyone’s favorite GM gorilla also has a fresh look, albeit an incredibly insignificant one. Winston’s bulky shoulder pads have been replaced with smaller ones, while his power pack has seen some adjustments. Instead of showing different emblems on his armor, Winston from Overwatch 2 looks much simpler.

tracers

tracer monitoring

Tracer’s iconic brown bomber jacket has been replaced with a gray version. The next notable feature is the addition of their new running shoes. The time-jumping adventurer is known for her incredible speed, so it makes sense that Blizzard would want to change that in Overwatch 2.

Next is Tracer’s armguard. They may still retain the same white color but have been tweaked to reduce drag.

Genji

Genji Overwatch

The cybernetic shinobi has had one of the biggest design changes in Overwatch 2 – in fact, the only two mainstays are Genji’s helmet and iconic sword. Rather than sporting his usual high-tech gear, Genji has opted for a more casual approach to combat. Despite appearing to be wearing an armored jacket and gray pants, the deadly ninja still exudes cool.

mei

Mei Overwatch

The fluffy fur ruffles that were present on Mei’s boots have been removed, and the lower part of her coat has also been adjusted. The intrepid Climatologist no longer has a trusty item belt either. While some Mei fans might disagree with these changes, Blizzard seems to have been interested in decluttering their old design.

widowmaker

Widowmaker Surveillance

Widowmaker’s redesign was one of the first Overwatch characters to receive widespread acclaim from the community. Almost everything from Widowmaker’s original outfit has been changed.

The deadly assassin’s sniper is much bulkier and the same dark purple color as her outfit. The widow’s infra-sight goggles also no longer fully cover her head, while the eagle-eyed sniper’s long purple hair has been braided. It’s certainly a deadly look for this popular character.

Reaper

Reaper surveillance

Reaper’s design has always exuded that of a shady villain. After all, this former Overwatch founder isn’t exactly known for his friendliness. With a jet black hood and cape, Reaper blends effortlessly into the shadows.

Its new redesign is much simpler. Everything from Reaper’s bulky belt to his leg guards and jagged spikes have been removed. After all, the best assassins work best under cover of darkness.

pharaoh

Pharaoh Overwatch

Pharah is one of the least changed heroes in Overwatch 2. In fact, the only changes are her hairstyle and armor color. If you liked the mech suit design of Pharah’s original design, then you will definitely like this in Overwatch 2.

Cassidy

McCree Overwatch

Blizzard fixed this scruffy cowboy’s hair and swapped out his tan attire for a darker shade. His red poncho has been given a modern redesign and now has a side pocket – particularly practical for stowing cigars and ammunition. The outfit is rounded off by some armored knee pads and a pair of futuristic cowboy boots.

Torbjorn

Torbjorn Overwatch

Torbjorn has often been a little neglected by both Blizzard and the Overwatch community, but the sequel aims to rectify that. Not only does Torbjorn have a snazzy new hammer and goggles, but the tower-loving engineer also has a snazzy new beard.

To make things even better, Torbjorn has a magnificent mane of golden hair. That makes us wonder why he always hid it under that old visor?

Baptiste

Baptiste’s appearance has been revised for the sequel.

With the loss of his iconic scarf, Baptiste’s look has been streamlined but still retains his iconic teal and orange color scheme. His boots have been changed, with a teal color wash on the front, and his chest piece has been changed to white and grey. He also got a snazzy new haircut!

sombra

Sombra has a sleek new look for Overwatch 2.

The elusive Sombra has been kept mostly the same, with the exception of a few simple changes to its appearance. With her hair completely purple and additional embellishments on her long jacket, her look is still as recognizable as ever. Subtle shifts were made in the color placement of her look, and the shade of purple was adjusted to be slightly darker overall.

bastion

Bastion’s visual upgrade makes his base colors more vibrant and gives him extra personality. Not only does Ganymede stay on his right shoulder, but Bastion now charges into battle wearing a dandy hat.
