A SET of parents welcomed a new baby boy into the world and their first gift to him was a unique name.

But the unique moniker got online commenters laughing — and imagining its ridiculous origin story.

An anonymous Reddit user came across the strange name on a hospital’s website – the little boy had just been born there.

The poster snapped a screenshot of the birth announcement and shared it with Reddit’s Name Nerd Circle Jerk forum.

Although it lacked a creative spelling like many other contemporary names, its odd components made it stand out.

In bold letters, the screenshot captioned the little boy by his first name: Carbon Mark.

Commentators were amazed at the elemental-inspired name.

“Carbon Mark sounds like a hilariously uncool superhero created by climate lobbyists,” wrote one commenter.

Others jumped at the idea, coming up with details and additional lore.

“His superpower is descaling ANY dishwasher,” one joked.

Another chimed in that Carbon Mark must have a brother named “Fossilfuel Greg”.

Several people have struggled to imagine the inspiration behind the parents’ bizarre choice.

“I thought the parents were filling out a form in pencil when they said ‘Aha!’ had. Wait a minute,” one suggested.

Many assumed the parents were trying to ensure their son was destined for a career in science.
