People are just realising they’ve got the WRONG smart speaker for their Ring doorbell

RING offers tons of free bonus features – provided you have the right smart speaker.

ring is owned by Amazon, so it’s no surprise that they keep the very best parts for their own device.

And by that we mean Alexa and Fire TV kit.

Well-known competitors like Google Home can do some things with your Ring Doorbell, but not nearly as much.

So if you’re considering whether to consider a smart speaker or smart display and want it to work perfectly with Ring.

A big plus is the ability to watch a live view from your camera.

So no need to pick up your iPhone when an alert comes in, Alexa will let you know.

Or you can use the Fire TV Stick to see who’s at your door right from your TV.

But devices from other smart tech manufacturers, such as Google’s Nest Smart Hub, can’t do these things.

You also don’t get a notification of detected motion.

On the other hand, if you already have Google Home devices and want to stick with them, you might want to consider getting a Nest Doorbell instead.

Again, Google Nest Hubs get the best features with the Nest Doorbell.

It’s annoying, but to take advantage of all the options, you have to stay with the same company when it comes to smart tech as much as possible.

A bit like sticking with an iPhone and an Apple Watch or a Samsung Galaxy smartphone with a Galaxy Watch, it’s just easier as they all work seamlessly together.

Of course, you don’t have to have a smart speaker or display.

You can use your smartphone – whether iPhone or Android – without any restrictions.

Which devices work best with Ring?

The vast majority of smart speakers and displays have some Ring features.

But the products made by Amazon have all the bells and whistles.

So if you want a smart speaker or display that works with your Ring Doorbell, consider Amazon Echo devices.

Echo uses Alexa.

Amazon has a ton of Echo speakers, starting with the £30 Echo Dot.

The Echo Show is a display-based Alexa smart device.

The cheapest of all is the Echo Show 5, which costs £45.
