Walmart bargain hunters are familiar with the store’s secret clearance deals — how to discover hidden discounts by scanning product barcodes with the Walmart app.

But now savings enthusiasts have discovered a trick to increase their chances of success.

Walmart sometimes stocks two nearly identical items, with one variant for secret clearance and the other for full price.

Products with slight color deviations have different barcodes, which means they may have different prices.

TikToker @couponwithkayla recently demonstrated how this works with a video at her local Walmart.

She was on the lookout for a Baby Trend Tour LTE 2-in-1 red and black stroller after an online inventory checker showed her the item was on a secret sale for just a penny.

The stroller normally costs $197.

But because their store only had the product in a gray color, the secret clearance agreement wasn’t available.

But if she’d been able to pull off the red and black color, it would have been just a dime.

One of her followers who had more success commented, “I just got one for a dime!”

Another wrote: “I got one today! My store had three!”

COLOR CODE

While your luck at finding penny deals may vary from store to store, it always pays to scan different color variants of the same product.

Another TikToker, @superunsexy, recently posted a video after finding two Shark VacMops that looked “almost identical” – but one was gray and the other was black.

When he used the Walmart app to check prices, he found that the gray vacuum was $78, but the black was only $38.

“Sometimes different boxes mean different prices,” he advised.

OTHER WAYS TO SAVE AT WALMART

If you can’t find a secret clearance deal on your next trip to Walmart, there’s another easy way to save money.

Cashback app Ibotta gives you 3 percent back on all your purchases and up to $4 off a rotation of different items.

The app can be used both in store and online, and there’s even a browser extension.

It’s completely free to download and right now, Ibotta is offering new customers an additional $10 refund if they spend $30.
