People are only just realising there’s part of your microwave you absolutely need to clean… and it’s probably disgusting

It seems we’ve neglected one appliance, and that’s the microwave.

Most microwave ovens have vents underneath them, which cleaning experts recommend cleaning once a month.

A cleaning fan running online at @cleaningvideos shared her easy way to clean her microwave oven vents in a TikTok video.

She said, “Did you know to clean the vents under your microwave?”

“I was years old today when I found out you’re supposed to clean the vents under your microwave.”

First, unplug your microwave and make sure you do not remove the vents immediately after using the microwave.

The vents should pop out easily, but you may want to use a butter knife to help.

Once you have the vents, stick them in the sink, use hot water and dish soap; Leave it on for a few minutes, then scrub with a stiff bristle brush.

If you come across tricky greasy stains, try adding some baking soda to the hot water to make scrubbing easier.

You should see a visible color difference when finished.

Before replacing the air vents, make sure they are completely dry.

If you’re waiting for the vents to dry, you can also clean the inside of your microwave a bit.

Cleaning experts recommend replacing your microwave hoods to keep them in top condition as they ensure your exhaust fans are working efficiently.
