Pep Guardiola gives John Stones injury update after Man City star suffers hip problem

John Stones will be out until September, making him a possibility for England’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine and the friendly against Scotland.
Gareth Southgate could no longer be available as a centre-back as Tyrone Mings is out for most of the rest of the season and Harry Maguire is yet to play for Manchester United this season.
Stones, who played in the Community Shield but missed Manchester City’s last three games with a minor hip injury, will also sit out his Premier League clashes against Sheffield United and Fulham.
“John won’t be ready [for City] see you after the international break,” said coach Pep Guardiola, who is hoping Bernardo Silva could be in the running for Sunday’s game at Bramall Lane.
Guardiola has hinted that Kyle Walker has agreed to stay at City, who have offered Bayern Munich a contract extension.
City are also keen to sign Silva, who has two years left on his current contract, and Guardiola added: “It will be my dream, as will Kyle.”
