Person hit by lorry in Scots town centre as roads shut down

A town center was closed after a person was hit by a truck.

Mercy crews raced towards the High Street in Lanark, Lanarkshire this afternoon.

The person was hit by the large vehicle around 2:50 p.m.

Police officers blocked the busy road in both directions.

While the emergency services are processing the incident, diversions are also planned.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 2.50pm on Monday 3 July 2023, police received a report of an accident involving a lorry and a pedestrian on the High Street in Lanark.

“Emergency services are on scene and the High Street has been closed in both directions, diversions have been put in place.”
