Philadelphia Celebrates the Holidays presented by 6abc | City Hall tree lighting streaming live

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Rick Williams, Cecily Tynan and Alicia Vitarelli will host Philadelphia Celebrates the Holidays December 1 live on 6abc at 7pm and streaming on the 6abc app.
Philadelphia’s Christmas tree at City Hall
It’s Philadelphia’s official start of the holiday season with the lighting of the Christmas tree, supported by NRG.
The massive Concolor silver fir was grown at Yule Tree Farms, a third generation family farm in western New York.
It is the centerpiece of City Hall’s north apron, seasonally named the Wawa Holiday Plaza. There is a Ferris wheel, a trackless train, food vendors and the NRG house where you can learn about NRG products and offers.
There’s a merry-go-round in the courtyard of City Hall and if you venture to Dilworth Park on the west side you can take a spin at Rothman Rink and then warm up and refuel in the cozy Rothman Cabin with its menu of hearty home cooking. Cocktails and hot chocolate and cider.
With thousands of twinkling lights, a reindeer topiary and a huge arbor, Dilworth Park Wintergarden has become a popular selfie spot.
Santa Claus comes to the Winter Garden on December 3, the same day as the Visit Philadelphia Holiday Parade.
It’s a lighted parade featuring lighted floats, cold air balloons and marching bands from eight states.
It begins at 2nd Street and Market Street and heads west to City Hall.

In its 15th season, the Christmas Village is back at Love Park and City Hall, modeled on an authentic German Christmas market.
Vendors with goods of all kinds are showcased in brand new wooden shacks, with a selection of gifts from clothing to ornaments and everything in between.
Across the street in Dilworth Park, the Made In Philadelphia Market features wares from local artisans.
Look for vendors in the white tents, also with a variety of gift ideas.
