Philadelphia curfew: New rules in effect for all minors 16+ in Philly

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Curfew changes go into effect Thursday night for minors ages 16 and older across the city of Philadelphia.

Mayor Jim Kenney signed the law into law that changed the curfew from midnight to 10 p.m. The new curfew is in effect until September 29.

This is the same rule that currently applies to 14- and 15-year-olds.

The curfew for children under 13 remains at 9:30pm

City Council member Katherine Gilmore Richardson said the goal is to get young people out of the way.

Richardson also secured millions of dollars in funding for resource centers for community evening events. The centers serve as safe places for children and are open daily from 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m
