Philadelphia Homicide: 2 dead after shootings a block from each other, just hours apart in Mayfair

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia police are investigating two murders that took place within a block of each other.

Investigators are trying to determine if the two incidents in the Borough of Mayfair are related.

Police were called to the area of ​​Loring and Ditman Streets just before 4:30 a.m. Monday.

Police say a 19-year-old man was once shot in the head.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

About three hours earlier, someone called 911 after hearing gunshots on Bleigh Avenue near Jackson Street.

Officers found a man who had been shot multiple times in the head, torso and leg.

According to police, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

A car and a garage were also hit by gunfire.

Police are searching surveillance footage to find the shooter.

The names of the victims in both cases are not yet known.

These shootings ended a violent weekend in Philadelphia in which at least 18 people were shot dead, six of whom were fatally wounded.
