PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — The City of Philadelphia promotes women’s access to abortion.
Mayor Jim Kenney and other city leaders announced Thursday that the city will donate $500,000 to the Abortion Liberation Fund of Pennsylvania.
“Abortion is healthcare no matter where you live,” Mayor Jim Kenney said. “It’s legal in Philadelphia, but unfortunately that doesn’t mean it’s accessible to everyone. Providing financial assistance to people who desire abortion is one of the ways we will support the people of Philadelphia in their fundamental right to physical autonomy.”
The agency provides emergency financial assistance to people seeking abortion who cannot, or cannot afford, insurance for coverage.
There are a number of resources in Philadelphia for people who want to prevent unplanned pregnancies or who need an abortion or counseling support.
