Philadelphia police searching for attempted shoplifters who pepper-sprayed 2 children

Authorities say a 13-year-old girl was trying to stop two young women from shoplifting when an altercation broke out.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Two children were pepper sprayed during an altercation with two suspects in the attempted theft in West Philadelphia on Sunday night.

It happened around 5 p.m. on the 5500 block of Chancellor Street.

Authorities say a 13-year-old girl was trying to stop two young women from shoplifting when an altercation broke out.

A suspect is said to have used the pepper spray.

The 13-year-old and a 1-year-old were sprayed in the store. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The police are still looking for the suspects.
