LOS ANGELES — A man wanted in connection with the killing of Philadelphia rapper PnB Rock was arrested in Las Vegas on Thursday as authorities released startling new details about how the fatal shooting allegedly happened.
Freddie Lee Trone, 40, was taken into custody by the Las Vegas Criminal Apprehension Team Task Force, the LAPD said in a statement.
The fugitive suspect and his 17-year-old son were also formally charged Thursday in the shooting at a south Los Angeles restaurant.
Court documents claim that Trone’s son, believed to be a minor, was the one who actually pulled the trigger and robbed the rapper at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles on September 12th. Freddy Trone allegedly acted as a getaway driver, while his wife is subsequently accused of being an accomplice.
The documents claim that Freddy Trone dropped his son off near the restaurant that day. His son was armed with a pistol and had his face covered with a mask.
The 30-year-old rapper was at the restaurant with his girlfriend wearing what authorities described as “several hundred thousand dollars worth of jewelry.”
The teenager reportedly pointed the gun at the rapper and demanded, “Give me all your jewelry now!”
The documents don’t show if PnB Rock resisted, but say the teenager shot the rapper in the chest while he was sitting at the table and then twice more in the back as he fell to the ground.
He then allegedly removed jewelry from the rapper’s dying body, including necklaces, rings and watches. He also took a watch from his girlfriend. The rapper was later taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Freddy Trone then allegedly pulled into the back of the mall parking lot and drove his son away, returning home but leaving the car a few blocks away.
Trone is expected to be arrested in Las Vegas before extradition to Los Angeles.
He and his 17-year-old son, who were arrested in Lawndale on Tuesday, face one count each of murder and conspiracy to commit robbery and two counts of second-degree robbery in connection with the September 12 murder.
The teenager, whose name was not released because he is a minor, made his first court appearance Thursday in a Compton juvenile courtroom, prosecutors said. He is expected in court on October 19 for a pre-trial hearing.
A third defendant, Shauntel Trone, 38, was due to be charged Thursday because he was a defendant after the fact. A source told ABC7 that she is the teenage suspect’s stepmother.
PnB Rock, whose real name is Rakim Hasheem Allen, grew up in the Germantown area of Philadelphia. He used the name PnB as an acronym for the intersection of Pastorius and Baynton Streets.
