Pokemon Go players claim despawn glitch ruined Deino Community Day

Many players were looking forward to June’s Community Day event, but a bug that caused Deino to disappear ruined the day for a large group of Pokemon Go fans.

Pokemon Go fans have struggled to enjoy the recent events Niantic has hosted. With the exception of Adventure Week, events have disappointed players due to reduced times, disruptions, and infrequent Shiny appearances.

While Deino Community Day was still a victim of the changes made in March, players were excited to encounter a plethora of shiny Pokemon. Unfortunately, this event was hampered by a frustrating bug.

This spawn error was present during Pokemon Go Fest 2022 and was a major complaint from players. While it hasn’t been an issue since Go Fest, it flipped again during June’s Community Day.

Deino Community Day took place on June 25, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time.

Community Day ruined by spawn bug

Reddit user p33k4y posted a screen capture of his gameplay during the event. Three Deino had appeared nearby and the player tapped each one just for them to disappear.

Niantic noted during Go Fest that this was a visual bug. The Pokémon on the screen persists after it has already disappeared. Players see a mirage, or the ghost of a Pokémon that isn’t actually there.

According to the post, this known issue has yet to be fixed. And from the comments it seems that this was a widespread problem affecting players from different parts of the world.

“A fun community day in Tokyo with lots of app crashes, prolonged login issues, ‘maintenance’ screens, Professor Willow popping up briefly in place of Rhi – and even Go Fest’s infamous ‘visual bug’ popped up today,” said p33k4y. “You have to wonder what’s going on at Niantic.”

The infamous “visual bug” was immediately removed from Pokemongo during Deino Community Day (Tokyo).

However, while the normal Community Day lasted only three hours, players could play together for an additional three hours to see more deino spawn. However, issues arose when players encountered Zweilous (Deino’s evolved form) that cannot spawn shiny.

A Reddit post by MarsNeedsFreedomToo theorizes that Niantic will likely continue to saturate spawns with Pokemon that can’t spawn shiny to prevent them from “interfering with the game.”
