Police respond to reports of shooting at Texas shopping mall

Police have responded to reports of a shooting at an outlet mall in Texas, according to authorities.

According to FOX4 in Dallas, officers were called to the Allen Premium Outlets to investigate Saturday afternoon’s shooting.

“Law enforcement is on the ground at Allen Premium Outlets. An active investigation is ongoing. Please avoid area until further updates,” the Allen Police Department tweeted.

A spokesman for the Collin County Sheriff’s Office told FOX4 Dallas that there have been “a few” casualties.

In a video posted to Twitter, people could be seen running through a parking lot while loud gunfire rang out in the background.

Footage from news channels from helicopters showed long lines of people being led away from shops with their hands raised.

Allen Premium Outlets is an outdoor shopping mall with more than 120 outlet stores, the website says. It is about 25 miles north of Dallas.

“We were outside the Converse store and we just heard the whole bang,” eyewitness Elaine Penicaro, who was shopping with her daughter, told Fox4.

“We kind of all just stopped and a second later it was like, ‘Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop,’ and sparks flew like it was right in front of us.”
