PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A security guard was shot dead while working at the South Street Festival on Saturday night.
It happened around 11 p.m. near 7th Street and South Street.
Investigators say a woman riding in an open vehicle got into an argument with a group of people who worked at a vendor at the festival.
The woman exited the vehicle and got into a physical altercation with the group of vendors.
Security officials working at the festival were able to successfully end the fight.
As the woman and driver got back into the vehicle, the driver opened fire, hitting a security officer twice.
The 32-year-old security officer was taken to hospital and is in stable condition.
Police say the altercation stemmed from a group of dirt bike, quad and open-air vehicle operators removing barricades in place for the event while workers closed for the night.
According to investigators, the incident was captured by surveillance cameras.
Police have not said if any arrests were made at the time.
