The Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) flight was scheduled to take off from Oslo to Heathrow last Wednesday.

The London-based steward was subjected to a breathalyzer test and was caught after exceeding the limit.

A source said: “The veteran crew member was staggering around and reeked of alcohol.

“He was immediately subjected to a breathalyzer test and was arrested following a positive test result.

“He was way over the limit. Now he’s on trial and his flying career is in ruins.”

SAS said: “We take incidents like this very seriously and have very clear processes and systems in place to deal with them.”

“However, we will not comment further or provide any further details as we are treating this as a confidential and individual personnel matter.”
