Powerball winning numbers are in: Jackpot at $1.6B, setting new lottery prize record

The Powerball jackpot climbed to $1.6 billion, setting a new lottery winnings record.

The prize continues to grow after nobody won the massive jackpot in Wednesday night’s drawing.

On Saturday night there was a drawing of the Powerball prize, which has not been won for more than three months. This string of 39 consecutive no-winner draws reflects the high odds of winning a jackpot, standing at 1 in 292.2 million.

Here are tonight’s winning numbers: 28 45 53 56 69 and the red Powerball 20.

The advertised jackpot is the prize for a winner who chooses an annuity paid annually over 29 years. Almost all winners opt for the cash prize instead, which would be estimated at $782.4 million for today’s drawing.

While no one won the grand prize for Wednesday’s drawing, there were a number of smaller winners. Tickets, which won a $2 million prize, sold in Arkansas, Montana and New Jersey. $1 million in tickets were sold in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Texas and Virginia.

The biggest lottery jackpot of all time was a $1.5863 billion Powerball prize in 2016, with the top prize shared by three winners in California, Florida and Tennessee.

Powerball is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million and tickets cost $2 each.
