Premier League star ‘chased by debt collectors after refusing to pay for a £25,000 set of veneers’

It has been claimed a PREMIER League star was hounded by debt collectors after refusing to pay for a set of dental veneers worth £25,000.

The Playboy star left a posh Harley Street dental studio with gleaming teeth cut from custom-made porcelain molds.

But the well-known player – who was not identified – believed he would receive the treatment for free because of his fame and ignored requests to pay.

The leading London dentist was left with no choice but to hire specialist debt collection agencies to settle the bill and the star only paid after legal proceedings were initiated.

His case emerged yesterday as the most extreme in a series of cases of dental bill evasion reported in Britain’s snowball theft epidemic.

A government debt collection agency said yesterday that the number of requests to prosecute dental customers who refuse to pay has increased by 20 percent in recent months.

Commenting on the case, Frontline Collections’ Chris Spencer said: “He was a Premier League footballer but in the end it went through the legal process and we finally got him to pay.”

“He was kind of ubiquitous and it was common knowledge that he was something of a playboy.

“I think he’s calmed down now.”
