Following the news of her death, Princess Charlene wrote in a statement on Instagram: “I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a truly magnificent woman whose dedication and service were recognized around the world in the 70’s years of her dominion.”

She added: “Today my thoughts are with her family, her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and the British people.”

After the service, the Queen was transferred to Windsor, where a funeral service was held at St George’s Chapel. She was later lowered into the royal vault when King Charles and the royal family said their final farewells.

Meanwhile, Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral service ended with the congregation singing “God save the King,” and for the first time ever, Charles didn’t have to sing along.

Prince Charles personally thanked the public as they lined the streets of London over the weekend to pay their respects to his “favorite mum” before releasing a statement on Sunday night ahead of the funeral that would bring the country to a standstill.

“We were moved beyond measure by everyone who took the trouble to come and pay their respects to the lifelong service of my dear mother, the late Queen,” he said. “As we all prepare to say our final goodbyes, I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you.”
