Queen Elizabeth II died of old age, her death certificate reveals.

The document, released by National Records of Scotland on Thursday, says the late British monarch died at 3:10pm UK time (10:10am ET) on September 8 at Balmoral Castle in Ballater, Scotland. Iy lists her full name as “Elizabeth Alexandra Mary” with the surname Windsor.

Old age is given as the cause of death. The document is signed by the Queen’s daughter, Princess Anne, CNN reported.

Britain’s longest reigning monarch died peacefully at the age of 96.

Her death sparked a period of national mourning. King Charles III, who ascended to the throne after the death of his mother, was officially proclaimed the new monarch of the United Kingdom on 10 September.

Charles paid tribute to his mother’s seven-decade reign, calling it “unmatched in its duration, dedication and devotion”.

“Even as we mourn, we give thanks for this extremely faithful life,” he said during the historic ceremony at St James’s Palace.

Heads of state paid tribute to the global influence the Queen had during her 70-year reign, and the world bid farewell to the monarch on September 19 with a state funeral full of pageantry.

Members of the royal family, dignitaries, presidents and prime ministers gathered at Westminster Abbey for a somber service, while tens of thousands of people poured into the surrounding streets and along the 25-mile processional route from central London to Windsor in hopes of seeing the to see the flag-draped coffin of the sovereign as she rode the hearse to her final resting place.

Later that evening she was buried in the King George VI Memorial Chapel with her 73-year-old husband, the Duke of Edinburgh. An annex to St George’s Chapel, it also houses the remains of the Queen’s father, her mother, the Queen Mother, and her sister Princess Margaret.

Buckingham Palace released a photo last week that revealed the sovereign’s final resting place, showing an engraved headstone made of hand-carved Belgian black marble with inlaid brass letters bearing the names of her parents and husband.
