Meanwhile, a separate report said there was a little royal drama ahead of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June. Prince Harry was quite upset to find out he hadn’t gotten permission from Queen Elizabeth for him and Meghan Markle to stand on the balcony with the rest of the royal family.

According to Tom Bower, who is set to publish a new book called Revenge, he asked Queen Elizabeth and her aides to allow him and his wife to join the other royals on the balcony, but that didn’t happen. Ahead of the anniversary, the palace released a statement saying neither Prince Harry, Meghan Markle nor Prince Andrew would be on the balcony for this year’s celebrations as all three are no longer considered working royals.

Bower wrote in his books: “To achieve this goal, Harry consulted the Queen’s recalcitrant advisers. When that failed, he asked the Queen if he could visit her on his way to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games at Windsor. To secure their approval, Harry seemed to give the impression that the meeting would offer an ‘olive branch’ to ‘clean the air’.”

In addition, Bower says the Sussexes’ surprise meeting with Queen Elizabeth in Windsor was planned at the very last minute.

“At the last moment to see her grandson and instinctively forgive Meghan, the Queen agreed to meet the couple on April 14,” he added. “William avoided the issue with a prior arrangement to ski with his family in France.”
