Andy Murray has a Father’s Day surprise after winning in Nottingham

Andy Murray begins his Queen’s campaign against Alex de Minaur as the former British No. 1 continues his Wimbledon preparations and looks to continue his winning streak on grass.

Murray is a five-time Queen’s champion and comes to the tournament in renewed form after winning titles in Surbiton and Nottingham. The 36-year-old is keen to secure a seeded spot ahead of Wimbledon but faces a significant league climb against seventh-seeded Australian De Minaur, who has won all three of his previous encounters.

It is set to be Murray’s toughest challenge on grass this season and a physical test as he moves into the Queen’s opening round after 10 games in 14 days.

Elsewhere, Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune start their seasons on the pitch after British No. 1 Cameron Norrie made a winning start against Miomir Kecmanovic on Monday.

15-15, Rune follows up a double fault with a great 1-2 play as he hits a forehand winner.

15-30, Rune misses his forehand wide and Cressy tries to capitalize on that.

30-30, Cressy didn’t hear the memo as he fired a long return.

Rune moves Cressy around the field and completes the point with a volley. Get back in control at 40-30.

Cressy makes another double fault and it gets a bit painful. He is until 9.

Rune misses a routine second serve and we’re 15-15.

Another second serve point win for Cressy at the net and he leads 30-15. The American seems to have lost some pace on his second serve, which seems to be working.

Rune leads 40-15 in the fifth game of this set as he continues to serve reasonably well.

Rune plays a great first service game and leads the second set 1-0. 20-year-old Rune seems much more comfortable now and feels in control of this game.

15-30, Cressy loses two of three points on serve at the net, the third of which he had at the net with a wide open forehand. An inexcusable mistake.

Cressy follows with an ace and a solid point at the net. 40-30

Cressy holds his second serve and the set is back at 1-1.

Rune commits a double fault and starts the game at 0:15.

Cressy misses three returns in a row, one on the first serve, two on the second and Rune leads 40-15.

40-30, Rune misses a routine slice and adds an unforced error to his tally.

A good serve leads to a short return, which Rune parries with the forehand. 2-1 rune

Rune Hit is a great first serve and he’s back on top at 4-3.

Cressy then hits a great first serve himself and we are back at 4:4.

Rune returns a great second serve and forces a miss from Cressy at the net. Rune is now in control at 5-4 in the tie break with his own serve.

Rune takes the two points with his serve and takes the first set.

After leading 5-2 early in the first half, Cressy should be really disappointed not being able to win that set.

Rune Cressy: Tie-Break

A quick serve from Rune and we’re in the tiebreak.

Cressy starts with another double fault and Rune leads 1-0.

Cressy plays a great return point and finishes it off with a powerful forehand winner. 1-1 in the tie-break.

A bad miss on Rune’s second serve and Cressy lets out a frustrated grunt. Rune leads 2:1.

Cressy’s powerful second serve scores both serve points this time as Cressy scores two volley winners to make it 3-2.

30-0 rune after a missed return from Cressy and an unforced backhand error. Rune seems to severely limit his groundstrokes to lengthen rallies.

Rune misses another forehand approach and we have 30-15

game rune! We have 5-5 in the first set. Rune is still not at his best, but seems to have settled in.

With a score of 30-0, Cressy wins two points in a row on first serve and is 17/18 for the game.

Two more double faults for Cressy and he’s hit his seventh fault on set.

Rune fires off a great backhand as Cressy comes to the net and the Danish youngster has another break ball.

Holger Rune vs. Maxime Cressy: 4-5

An ace and a missed backhand from Cressy lead to a 30-0 on Rune’s serve.

A good serve from Rune and another backhand winner from Cressy puts us at 40-15.

Rune uses a dropshot and plays a little game of cat-and-mouse, letting Cressy Rune run the game.

Cressy served after just 29 minutes to make the score 5-3.

Classic Cressy as we are 15-30 after a smashing first serve and two double faults in a row. Rune has a great chance to return to this set here.

Cressy doesn’t stop shooting as he has his third straight double fault. Rune has two breakpoints.

Cressy sees a volley go straight into the net and after a really bad play from Cressy we’re back to serve.

A great backhand cross from Cressy and we have 40-15. His first big groundstroke winner of the game.

Rune responds with an ace and we have 4-2. So far 4 aces from Cressy and 3 from Rune.

Two good serves from Cressy taking his ace total to 5 and leaving us at 30-0

Cressy continues to use a first serve as his second and sees success. A quick serve to Cressy as it’s now 5-2 to Cressy.
