Rams coach Sean McVay reveals he has a new contract

Rams coach Sean McVay, who led the team to a Super Bowl title in February, said Tuesday he had a new contract.

Rams chief operating officer Kevin Demoff said in March that McVay and general manager Les Snead were “the architects of this run” and that both were in line for extra time after the Rams ended a boom-or-bust season with a loss had the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium.

At the start of the training camp, when asked about his contract status, McVay said: “We’re in a good place.” He said Tuesday his answer related not only to his status but also to Sneads.

“Les and I have always been a couple,” McVay said. “We wanted to be able to announce that somehow when we were both done.

“Mine is ready. Les is in…it’s very important for Les and I to have represented that we’re a partnership and a couple.”

McVay, who is believed to have landed a five-year contract, is now undoubtedly at or near the peak in NFL coaching salaries.

Last season, McVay reportedly earned about $8.5 million, trailing behind the likes of New England Patriots’ Bill Belichick and Seattle Seahawks’ Pete Carroll, who reportedly earned $12 million and $11 million, respectively earned.
