Running back Cam Akers could play for the Rams for the first time since an Oct. 9 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The third-year pro returned to the team after more than two weeks in exile. But as of Friday, coach Sean McVay would not say if Akers would play for an offense that ranks second-to-bottom in the NFL in rushing.
Last season, quarterback Matthew Stafford scored a last-minute win over the Buccaneers in an NFC divisional round playoff game in Tampa, Fla. Stafford has passed seven touchdowns with eight interceptions this season.
Star wide receiver Cooper Kupp suffered an ankle injury late Sunday in the loss to the San Francisco 49ers after McVay’s ill-advised passing game called for the Rams 17 points down. However, Kupp seems to have recovered and will play against the Buccaneers.
Search for Stafford to include Van Jefferson. The third-year pro played for the first time this season in the loss to the 49ers but was not targeted.
Linebackers Devin White and Lavonte David lead a Buccaneers defense that includes lineman Vita Vea, who has the top team with 4½ sacks. Cornerback Jamal Dean intercepted two passes.
