PnB Rock, the Philadelphia rapper best known for his 2016 hit “Selfish,” was shot multiple times Monday afternoon in Los Angeles, the LAPD told The Times.
The shooting took place after 1 p.m. at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles on Main Street and Manchester Avenue in South LA, police said. Rock, whose real name is Rakim Allen, was shot dead when his jewelry was stolen, according to the LAPD. He was taken to a local hospital. His condition is unknown.
Rock, 30, had been at the restaurant with his girlfriend, who posted a photo tagged with a location in a since-deleted Instagram post.
Rock first rose to national prominence with his 2015 single “Fleek,” which features his blend of melodic rapping and dazed trap production. He then went on to work with a bevy of artists including Ed Sheeran and Chance the Rapper on Cross Me.
“Selfish” peaked at number 51 on the Billboard Hot 100.
PnB Rock released their latest song “Luv Me Again” on September 2nd.
