Rehab centres see big rise in calls from parents worried their kids hooked on vaping

REHAB centers are seeing a sharp increase in calls from parents concerned that their children are addicted to e-cigarettes.

Desperate mothers and fathers bombard the UK Addiction Treatment Group’s seven centers.

Experts say three months ago they were only receiving two calls a month about the problem.

But calls are now pouring in every day from parents asking for help for their children suffering from e-cigarette addiction.

Experts at UK Addiction Treatment Group – which runs seven rehab centers across the country – say they have seen a “significant increase” in calls about the issue.

And bosses believe the Government has made the problem worse by not banning disposable vapes sooner.

Disposable vapes sold in bright colors and sweet flavors are to be banned in England, it was announced last week.

But UKAT’s Nuno Albuquerque said: “It’s welcome, but too little, too late. “They are already an integral part of youth culture and there are not enough regulations around their sale to under-18s.”

The number of people seeking help has increased by 50 percent.

Nuno said: “It could be parents, but also young people who are looking for help. We have no doubt that vaping will soon overtake smoking.”
