Remi Wolf shares new track ‘Michael’ from deluxe edition of ‘Juno’

Remi Wolf has shared a brand new track called ‘Michael’ – check it out along with details of a new deluxe edition album below.

The track is the lead single from the extended version of Wolf’s 2021 debut album ‘Juno’, which is due out June 3 through Virgin EMI.

“Michael” will be joined by three other new songs in the new deluxe version and a repurposed set of songs from “Juno”.

Talking about the new song, Wolf said: “I wrote ‘Michael’ with my friends Aaron Maine (Porches artist) and Jack DeMeo. This was Aaron and I working together for the first time, and we both just returned from a wild trip to Miami, letting the energy flow into practice. We wrote 3 songs that day but “Michael” really stood out to us.

“When I write songs, I just freely style and let the words fall out. Meaning has come to me now after a few months. The song paints a picture of a manic and obsessed woman who desperately craves the attention she got from Michael and is willing to dig deep into a sinister pit to get it. I wanted the video to really paint a picture of this woman running around the city looking for Michael. We shot the running and shooting style in Argentina while I was on tour there, it was a bit of a spin, which ended up adding to the fascination of the video.”

Reviewing ‘Juno’ when it was released last year, NME described the album as “maximum pop music crammed with slurs, dark grooves, and animated promotional libs. While the album draws inspiration from Wolf’s previous EPs and Beck’s love of hip-hop, R&B and funk in 1999’s ‘Midnite Vultures’, ‘Juno’ hears her dig deep. more on the lyrical side – from mania and burnout to breakup. “

Next month, Wolf will return to the UK for two title gigs – on June 14 she will play the recently reopened KOKO in London, before heading to Manchester Academy two days later.

Reviewing her training session at the capital’s US Club last November, NME said: “Throughout, Wolf’s music is indispensable for the pigeon house. Tonight, over the course of 17 songs, the Californian artist will perform punk, pop, indie, funk and dance – often at the same time. In terms of vocals, she’s comfortable rapping about fast food parties (‘Quiet On Set) as she sings out lyrics about love (‘Woo!’).

“Damn, she was almost defeated in ‘Sexy Villain’ but didn’t have time to step back and dissect exactly what was going on. Whatever you want to call it, Wolf makes party music and from the moment she steps on stage, every moment is cause for celebration.”
