RHONY star Jenna Lyons reveals her hair and teeth are ‘wrong’ due to a genetic condition

At a performance on The view On Wednesday, the 55-year-old fashion designer, who suffers from incontinentia pigmenti, shared that both her hair and teeth are “wrong” and that she has scars “all over” her body as a result of the genetic disorder.

“All my teeth are fake. I paid a lot of money for it,” said Lyons. “My hair is fake too. I can take it off It’s like a hat. It’s not a wig.”

“My eyelashes are artificial. I don’t have eyebrows and I also have scars all over my skin,” she continued.

“So I was really conscious,” Lyons added. “It’s one of the reasons I chose fashion. I wanted to look better. I was constantly trying to find ways to adapt.”

According to the Cleveland ClinicIncontinentia pigmenti (IP) is a genetic condition “with distinctive skin rashes and lesions appearing at birth or in the first few weeks”.

After struggling for a long time to find false lashes she liked, Lyons decided to create her own line called Love Seen.

“When I’ve graced a lot of red carpets, I’ve always tried to find lashes that looked good and they just looked great on me,” she said. “I couldn’t wear them.”

“I remember having a conversation with my makeup artist, Troi Ollivierre, when I was walking on Oprah’s show and Oprah walked into the green room,” she recalls. “He looked at me, and he looked at her and said, ‘Sit back in the chair. We’re going to give you some lashes and some extensions.’”

“Because she’s present and I look like a wet rat,” Lyons joked, before sharing, “I couldn’t find what I wanted, so I created a lash line that’s not so overdone.”

Lyons is part of the RHONY reboot cast. Season 14 also stars Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Dana Lichy, Jessel Taank and Brynn Whitfield. Lyons is also the first openly gay actor to appear in the Bravo series.
