During a discussion on accents, the guest shared how the way a person speaks can lead to assumptions about a person’s background.

Matt said, “What happens when we hear someone speak is that we make a guess or make a guess: where is he from, what’s his?” Social status, what is her wealth, what is her Training?

Telly darling Richard replied: “But you’re perfectly articulate, even if you have a heavy accent!”

Co-star Susanna Reid burst out laughing as Richard added: “Your command of Language what I mean is your use of language.”

Another said: “It’s about confidence and education. Not for an accent.”

A third added: “It really pisses me off that we don’t hear a true West Country accent on national TV as that part of the country is usually ignored.”

While one commented: “As a Glasgow native it’s quite amusing to hear a fellow Glasgow native claim he hasn’t altered his natural speaking voice to suit the challenges of ambition, and has done so with a whole range of glottic creases. Working class.”
