Riot Games Announces Big Xbox Game Pass Partnership

At the start of today’s Xbox Game Showcase, Marc Merrill, President of Riot Games, took a few minutes to announce a major new partnership with Xbox and their Game Pass program. A number of Riot’s biggest experiences are coming to Xbox Game Pass for mobile and PC, unlocking relatively robust options for players.

First, Riot’s flagship League of Legends unlocks all champions on PC.

It’s a similar picture in League of Legends: Wild Rift, where all champions are unlocked on mobile gaming platforms.

In Legends of Runeterra, Game Pass players can expect to unlock the entire Foundations card set. For those who don’t know, as the name suggests, these are the basic cards for the game, setting the basic mechanics. The map set will be available for both PC and mobile devices.

In Teamfight Tactics, players can expect select Little Legends to be unlocked whether playing on PC or mobile.

And in Valorant, all agents will be unlocked on PC.

It’s a remarkable team that should give both Xbox and Riot a boost. On the Riot side, the availability of so many characters and sets across the spectrum of their games means that a potentially massive audience of Xbox gamers could have a chance to experience a wide spectrum of what each of these games has to offer. For Xbox’s benefit, it offers a significant boost to the already strong appeal of Xbox Games Pass as a service and experience, as players gain access to a number of aspects of each of these Riot games without having to pay an additional cost.

While Riot’s expansion in Game Pass is big news, it’s worth noting that it won’t have much of an impact for players on Xbox consoles, as all available options are available for specific PC and mobile combinations depending on the title.

Availability of all of these options is slated to come to Game Pass subscribers this winter. Riot Games Announces Big Xbox Game Pass Partnership
