Ruby Soho defeats AEW’s Riho in the Owen Hart Cup, joins Toni Storm in semi-finals

Ruby Soho and Riho clashed on AEW Rampage on Friday night, vying for a spot in the semi-finals of the Owen Hart Tournament.

The pair clashed in their second quarter-final tie this week, after Toni Storm beat Jamie Hayter on AEW Dynamite to claim his spot in the next round. Despite an occasional poor performance from Riho, Ruby Soho secured the win after a blade runner. She has now given herself a place compared to Red Velvet or Kris Statlander.

Riho just returned to AEW after taking a break from the game in January. Her first match back was against Yuka Sakazaki in a tournament qualifier where she was held to a draw against Soho. Ruby qualified again in April when she defeated Robyn Renegade.

Other quarterfinals that are yet to be played are Red Velvet vs Kris Statlander and Britt Baker vs ‘Joker’.

Ruby Soho made it to the finals of her last tournament in AEW

This is not the first time in 2022 that Ruby Soho has achieved success in a tournament. The former WWE star won all the way to the final of the tournament to open the TBS women’s championship.

To reach the final, Soho beat Penelope Ford, Kris Statlander and Nyla Rose. If Statlander beats Red Velvet, we’ll see a rematch in the semifinals.

Jade Cargill defeated Runaway in the final, won the TBS Women’s Champion and earned her first title on promotion. Ruby Soho has spent regular time on Dark and Dark Elevation, with only one appearance on Dynamite before the tournament got underway.

She recently claimed a victory over one of the other competitors in the tournament. Soho teamed up with fellow semi-finalist Toni Storm to beat Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter’s team on Rampage last week.
