Rumer Willis used her finger to break her waters during labor

“I put my finger up there,” Rumer recalled of her water birth at home. “I could totally feel this little bag – it feels like a water balloon but with a little harder skin.”

The new mom, 34, appeared on the “Informed Pregnancy“Podcast in which she provided a detailed play-by-play talk about her intense performance.

Rumer was surrounded by her family – her mother Demi Moore and sisters Tallulah Willis And Scout LaRue Willis — along with her partner Derek Richard Thomas, a doulah and a midwife.
Mid-conversation on the pod, Rumer explained that she “expanded from 2 to 8 inches in about an hour” after beginning to “move around” with her labor both in and out of her bathtub at home.

Rumer said she “started moving in the water like some sort of sexual mermaid,” which she says propelled the process forward.
However, her waters had not yet broken.
While she was in the bath, Rumer said her midwife “examined me and felt my water sac bulging but still not bursting, which was wild. And so I thought, ‘Should we break it?’”
“‘She says, ‘Well, you can.’ I’m like, ‘What?’ I said, ‘Are you serious?’” Rumer recalls.
“I put my finger up there and I feel and it was crazy,” she said of the experience. “I could totally feel this little bag – it feels like a water balloon but with a little harder skin.”

“It was like I pushed a little bit. I pushed – well, I didn’t push a bit, I probably pushed harder than ever, but it was literally like I pushed, her head was out.” I pushed again and her whole body was out ‘ said the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actress. “There was no break. There was no break in between. It wasn’t one of those moments where you’re like, ‘Oh, your head’s out.'”
“My midwife and partner caught her. It was the wildest. She had a cord wrapped around her neck, but it was also wrapped around her body, almost like a prom sash,” Rumer said. “We had four hands there, under the birthing stool. I say, ‘Give me the baby. Give me the baby.’”

“But then, once they had unraveled her, she was in my arms,” Rumer said, “the most ecstatic and joyful moment of my entire life.”
“I just started sobbing with joy. I have some of the most beautiful photos of it just looking at her, my sisters and my mother and my mother holding me.”
“My sister actually told me something later that I didn’t even know I said. At one point I looked at Louetta and said, ‘I missed you so much.’ I thought that was so cute because it was really like that moment, ‘Oh yeah! We’re back together.’”
“It’s like, ‘Oh yeah. That person I know and have been waiting forever for, here you are.’”
Rumer’s daughter Louetta Isley is now 7 weeks old.
