Russell Brand reflects on brief marriage to Katy Perry 12 years later

During the Sunday episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The ChallengeReflecting on his relationship with the pop star, the 48-year-old actor – who was married to Perry from 2010 to 2012 – shared that their short-lived marriage came during a “chaotic” time in his 30s.

“Actually, I didn’t really start earning my living until I was about 30. The films I did in the US were all made in my early 30s,” said Brand Grylls, who then asked about his marriage to Perry.
“It was then that I was most in the public eye, working in America. some aspects of it [that time] were incredible,” Brand recalled in response, before adding to Perry, “She’s an amazing person.” It was kind of incredible to live in this cyclonic aspect of fame for a moment.”
“Aside from my feelings of affection for Katy, it’s a time I remember as being a little bit messy and a little bit on my own… a little bit disjointed,” he added.
Brand and Perry, 38, split in 2011 after just 14 months of marriage. The former informed the latter of the divorce via text message. The former couple’s divorce was finalized in 2012.
Brand married Scottish blogger Laura Gallacher in 2017. The couple have two daughters together: Mabel (6) and Peggy (5). Brand announced in June that he and Gallacher are expecting their third child.
Meanwhile, following her split from Brand, Perry dated John Mayer from 2012 to 2015 before they started dating Orlando Bloom in 2016. The couple got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019 and revealed They were expecting their first child together the following March. Perry and Bloom welcomed Daughter Daisy in August 2020.
