“Ryan Murphy left On Read after accepting the AHS pitch, which cost me the Marvel role.”

Angelica Ross details the two years she says she spent waiting for a response from Ryan Murphy after he accepted her pitch for a Black female-hosted season of American Horror Story, just to not reachable – and how the delay cost them a role. Wonder.
American horror story alum Angelica Ross went from soaring to inner dying Ryan Murphy took their pitch for a new season of the horror franchise, which presumably would have been Season 11, and then completely ghosted it.
The actress said she applied to take part Marvel Cinematic Universe for three years at a time, but when she finally got the call from the studio, she was locked into a seven-year deal with FX in the “first position”… and nothing happened.

On Monday, Ross’ claims sparked a tweetstorm that began back in July 2020, when she said she received an email from Ryan accepting her pitch. “Remember your idea for one Horror Season starring black women?” read the email displayed. “Well, I’ll do it.”
In the email she was told that he didn’t have an idea yet, but that a writers’ room would be created in the fall. Murphy emphasized in the email how serious he was about the project and then asked her about the casting.
“Besides you, who are the four women I should choose?” The email continued. “I think you, Keke Palmer, Gabby [Sidibe] …not sure for the fourth?”
Ross followed with a variety of options, including some that Murphy has worked with, including the likes Angela Bassett, Alfred Woodard, Adina PorterLynn Whitfield, Kerry Washingtonand some more.

But according to Ross via TikTok, she “stayed on track” with that response and has apparently still never heard from Ryan.
She shared that she reached out to the project again in February 2022 and asked if he could also potentially consider her as a producer for the season, which she said are “still looking for a Black lead cast.”
Ross explained that she was still contractually in the show’s “first position,” which limited her ability to take on other roles – the network would have to approve any outside work – and said she made one last attempt this month Murphy emailed another to reach out and even sent flowers.
She said she was told she would be returning for season 11 of AHS, but that didn’t happen. According to a now-deleted Instagram post in July 2023, per IntoMore.comMarvel had stopped calling when Ross was released from her contract.

Neither Murphy nor FX have responded to Ross’ claims, but loudly TheWrapA person familiar with the matter said Murphy’s anthologies often explore multiple ideas before settling on a single premise for the upcoming season.
While it’s clear that ideas change and suggestions can be rejected, Ross’s problem is more with the lack of communication about it. She explained on Twitter that it wasn’t about the obvious change of direction: “I’ve been calling Business Affairs for months trying to get clarity on whether they would accept my contract option or whether I could tell Marvel I’m available for whatever they want “I’m available.” called me.”
Ross appeared in Murphy’s pose and in season 9 (1984) and 10 (Dual function) from AHS. Season 11 of American horror story was subtitled NYC and took place in 1980s New York, when a virus along with a cruel serial killer began to devastate the gay community.
The upcoming 12th season is subtitled Sensitive and is based on the book by Danielle Valentine Delicate condition and has to do with fame and motherhood. The first part is divided into two parts and begins on September 20th.

A white director cried on set and said he didn’t think he would come back next season because there had been a “change in direction.” I just smiled because I knew what it was, but I think some people weren’t thrilled because they knew I was pushing for black directors and writers… ACCORDING TO MY EMAIL.

It’s not JUST that the idea has changed. Things are constantly changing.
