The TV veteran stepped down from his 20-year position on the This Morning couch after it was revealed he had an affair with a “much younger” member of staff.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Rylan said he has one rule when it comes to working in show business: “The only time I get involved in something like this is when my name is involved.”

His motto is simple: “Work hard, be decent to everyone, and be nice to everyone on the way up, because everyone falls.”

Shortly after the news broke about Phillip, which he had previously denied, numerous This Morning staff made claims about “toxic work cultures”.

Phillip said he was “deeply sorry” for the affair, which he said was “unwise but not illegal”.

The 61-year-old’s successor has not yet been determined. MailOnline announced that no decision would be made this year.

Instead, Holly Willoughby was joined by a number of presenters including Alison Hammond, Josie Gibson, Dermot O’Leary and Craig O’Doyle.

Fans suspected Rylan would be the new permanent fixture after he made a cryptic post just minutes after the news that Phillip would be leaving the show.

He shared a selfie in which he was beaming and making a peace sign with his fingers.

Rylan was forced to cancel his Radio2 show after his mother Linda suffered a fall while the couple were in Marbella earlier this week.

He then told fans that she needed surgery following the mishap and has now given a positive update on the progress.

In his latest Instagram post, Rylan delivered some good news as he shared some photos of his mother being wheeled onto a private jet on a stretcher.

The former X Factor finalist wrote in his caption: “She might have broken an arm and a leg but she cost me an arm and a leg!”

“LINDAS IS COMING HOME!! Many thanks to the great team and surgeons at @helicopterossanitarios. Thank you for taking care of my mother.”

He added in a comment: “And yes she still gets her driveway x.”

Earlier this week he described Celebrity Gogglebox star Linda as “not in the best of health” and said her other medical conditions had complicated matters.

He shared a picture of his mother’s hand on Instagram and wrote: “Mom is out of surgery.
