Sarah Jessica Parker breaks her silence on Kim Cattrall’s return, John Corbett on AJLT Season 2

The news of Kim Cattrall’s return comes as a surprise to Sex and the City fans after her infamous feud with Sarah Jessica Parker – the actress will make a brief cameo appearance in the Season 2 finale of the sequel And Just Like That.
Of all names “Sex and the City” Fans could have hoped to hear something with the second season of “And just like that,” Kim Cattrall was probably the least likely – and yet she will reprise her role as Samantha.
“I was really excited about the idea” Sarah Jessica Parker told AND about the small cameo that was leaked earlier this month. According to reports, Samantha will be on the phone with Parker’s Carrie by the end of the season. Could that hint at the possibility of more in Season 3?

“I thought it was a really good idea and I was thrilled that we could make it happen and that it worked for them and it’s just really nice to see,” said Parker. “It’s really beautiful. I was really happy.”
Like their real-life counterparts, Carrie and Samantha’s friendship is on the brink – the fictional world is about a business disagreement. While Cattrall was not involved in the first season of “AJLT,” Samantha “appeared” through text exchanges with Samantha.
According to Parker, their broken long-distance friendship will play a role in season two as well. The last thing fans knew was that Samantha lived in London and the pair were planning to meet up for drinks in Paris.
“I think it reflects the relationship that we texted last season and this season,” Parker told ET. “You know, this is an extremely important relationship for Carrie, she’s full of affection.”

She continued, “We just thought it was a really nice idea to put a face to the lyrics, especially to celebrate the 25th anniversary [“SATC”].” She called it a “beautiful nod” that landed in a “sentimental moment.”
As news of Cattrall’s return broke the internet, Cynthia Nixon (MIranda) was disappointed with the leak. “We were hoping we could keep it a secret,” she said. “Unfortunately, it has now burst, which is a real shame. Most of it was just the surprise that she came back.”
She also wanted to make sure that the whole lead time didn’t go too far beyond the outcome. “I think we all emphasize that it’s really short, it’s just a moment, so don’t expect anything but that,” she said.
The reason for Cattrall’s absence from the revival is a long-standing feud between her and Parker. While she cited a “heartbreaking” storyline that she felt was unfaithful to Samantha as the reason for her exit from the third SATC movie, feuding rumors were already circulating.

Although there had been Rumors of a feud between Parker and Cattrall before, after Cattrall things really got going an interview with Piers Morgan in 2017, saying Parker “could have been nicer to her.” Then, when Cattrall’s brother died unexpectedly in February 2018, Parker reached out to her former co-star and offered her his condolences.
Announcing her brother’s death, SJP wrote: “Dearest Kim, my love and condolences to you and yours and good luck to your beloved brother. xx.”
Then Cattrall left out of about Parker in another Instagram post, which she captioned: “My mom asked me today, ‘When is this Sarah Jessica Parker, this hypocrite, going to leave you alone?’ Your constant contact is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now.
“Let me get that VERY clear. (If I haven’t already). you are not my family You’re not my friend,” Cattrall continued. “So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop taking advantage of our tragedy to restore your ‘nice girl’ personality.”

When the revival without Cattrall was announced, SJP responded to a fan who said she “didn’t like” her former co-star. “No. I do not like her. I never said that. I would never say that either,” she replied, “Samantha is not part of this story. But she will always be a part of us. No matter where we are or what, we do.”
It’s easy to see why Nixon hoped Cattrall’s cameo would remain a surprise. Aside from being a fun tidbit for the fans, it also dwarfs everything else that happens in Season 2 of And Just Like That, including the return of another fan-favorite character, John Corbetts Aidan.
He and Carrie were once engaged and with – SPOILERS ALERT — Mr. Big (Chris Noth) is out of the picture forever, Aidan will find his way back into Carrie’s life. It appears to be a more extensive role than Cattrall’s, although there are no details as to whether it will be a single episode or a full-season arc.
Sara Ramirez, who plays Ché Diaz, suggested a more substantial role for Corbett, saying he had “the welcome energy that everyone needed” for the second season. Nixon simply said that Miranda was “always Team Aidan.”

As for Parker, she told AND It is a “rich relationship” and said his return offers exciting opportunities for the actors and writers. “Who are you now? are they good for each other Are they, you know, apologetic?” she mused. “Are they trying to correct course somehow? are they better for each other Are they worse for each other?”
However, they don’t intend to push Carrie into another serious relationship right away, as Parker says her character “reemerges and re-imagines life as single” after losing her husband.
She said it might look familiar to “SATC” fans. “By that I just mean the pursuit of joy, the kind of vibrancy this city has, romance and opportunity and all those things that happen when you’re on the path of discovery, whether it’s professional or personal, romantic discovery,” he explained she. “It’s amusing, it’s whimsical, it’s absurd.”
She also said that now that Carrie is a more mature, multi-faceted person, her approach to dating will seem more measured. “She’s an adult and an independent person who doesn’t depend on anyone,” she noted.
“But she’s someone who, you know, is deeply romantic and enjoys the flirtation and the chase, but perhaps more on her own terms than she could have managed in her recent past.”
And Just Like That begins its second season Thursday, June 22 on Max.
