Saving Private Ryan actor Tom Sizemore is hospitalized

Tom Sizemore was hospitalized in critical condition after suffering a brain aneurysm, a representative for the 61-year-old actor told the Los Angeles Times.

According to the Associated Press, the Saving Private Ryan star suffered an aneurysm around 2 a.m. Saturday at his LA home. As of Sunday morning, he was in intensive care in what his representative, Charles Lago, described as “wait and see.”

Sizemore is known for roles in major feature films such as Saving Private Ryan, True Romance and Black Hawk Down. He played Sgt. Horvath in Steven Spielberg’s 1998 war drama Saving Private Ryan alongside Tom Hanks and Matt Damon.

In 2003, Sizemore was convicted of domestic violence after his girlfriend Heidi Fleiss accused him of physically abusing her. Fourteen years later, Sizemore pleaded guilty to a domestic violence challenge after being arrested on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend in downtown LA

In 2009 he was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a former spouse and in 2011 on suspicion of assaulting a former spouse. He has also been arrested in the past on suspicion of transporting or selling a controlled substance, and he pleaded no use of methamphetamine outside of a Bakersfield motel in 2006.

Sizemore has been vocal about his journey with addiction, announcing in 2011 that he would be writing a memoir about his “drug abuse battles.” In 2013 he published his book By Some Miracle I Made It Out of There.

“The fact that I’m sober now for over two years — and that I’m acting as much as before — proves that people can overcome obstacles even when they know they can’t,” Sizemore said in 2011.
